After Care For Granite & Quartz Worktops

ENGINEERED STONE WORKTOPS ARE VERY EASY TO MAINTAIN AND WITH SIMPLE CARE, WILL RETAIN THEIR BEAUTY FOR MANY YEARS.

For cleaning granite worktops, use a damp cloth or paper towel and, if necessary, a small amount of mild soap. Once clean, rinse and dry surface thoroughly. Specialised products can be used to further assist with routine care and maintenance. Please consult your fabricator/supplier for further information.

REMOVING DIFFICULT SPILLS

Even though quartz and granite worktops resist permanent staining when exposed to liquids (such as wine, vinegar, tea, lemon juice, and soda) or fruits and vegetables, wipe up spills as soon as possible.

For stubborn or dried spills, use a non-abrasive cleaning pad with a small amount of mild soap or specialized stone cleaner.

For honed surfaces, a specialised product can also be used in conjunction with non-abrasive cleaning pad.

PREVENTING HEAT AND OTHER DAMAGE

Although granite and quartz worktops are heat resistant, they are not heatproof. It is and can still be subject to potential damage when exposed to sudden and extreme temperature changes e.g., hot pans. For this reason, we recommend the use of pan stands whenever possible.

Quartz and granite are also scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. Therefore, when using a knife, a chopping board is always recommended.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

Avoid exposing any quartz or granite surfaces to chemicals and solvents, especially paint removers or furniture strippers containing trichloroethane or methylene chloride. Keep nail polish remover, bleach, or cleansers that contain bleach, Cillit bang, bluing, permanent markers or inks, and oil soaps away from your quartz or granite surfaces.

While casual exposure to alkaline materials will not damage the surface, highly alkaline (high – pH) cleansers are not recommended when cleaning.

If any of the substances listed above come into contact with your quartz or granite surfaces, rinse the exposed surface immediately and thoroughly with water.
